On a Holy Night many years ago a baby was born. As Christians we know that this was no ordinary baby. This was the Christ Child. He was Emmanuel, God with us.
The journey to this Holy Night began long before the birth of the baby. Its start is found in God who is love.
In Advent 2009 we will journey together to the Holy Night on which the Christ Child was born. Along our journey we will make four stops--one for each week of Advent--to reflect on how this Holy Night came to be.
For each of these stops there will be a video devotion for you to view. Just click on the video for it to begin to play. This week's video is an Introductory Video to explain more about the devotions that will follow.
In addition to watching the video be sure to check out the "Advent in the Home" link located on the right side of this page. This link will take you to a variety of activities and worship experiences that can be done at home throughout the weeks of Advent.

Great idea!
ReplyDeleteI must say this is a wonderful idea and congratulate those who brought it forward!
ReplyDeleteO Come O Come Emmanuel is the perfect Advent song. And it happens to be my favorite Christmas hymn.

Thank you for providing a new way for us to stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas during the weeks of Advent. I look forward to each of the 4 devotionals. The background for the first video is lovely -- Roselawn perhaps?
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea! I'll look forward to viewing this with my children as well. Thank you to those at Sam JONES UMC who put this together.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are looking forward to the devotions! We filmed them at Grand Oaks. You'll see a variety of Grand Oaks settings in the weeks ahead. Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy to know that God is With Us! I'm at home recovering, and my day couldn't have started off better than to consider the Christmases past with my grandparents (my grandfather's middle name and Dad's middle name are both Emanuel) and focus on how happy and thankful I am to have my family and church family. Bless You All for putting this together.
